Fostering Application

Updated: Dec 20, 2021

Foster Care Requirements and Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

This position is a volunteer position, however you will be provided/reimbursed for the pets in your care. Our rescue relies on fosters to house our rescues and after submitting an application, you may be waiting until a rescue animal is in need. We also do not take on many animals at a time as we are still working on becoming established. In saying that, there are benefits to you, the animal and the community for partaking in our fostering program.

Depending on your comfort, experience, and animals available you could be caring for animals that are in palliative care, sick or in recovery, special needs or just in need of a good home. You could be administering oral or injectable medications as directed by the veterinarian, taking fosters to the veterinarian (in Grimsby) or being in contact with a transporter/myself for transportation. You will be responsible for making sure the pet is properly fed, exercised, loved, and developing into their best selves for adoption. You will also be the one who will be able to give the best information on personality, adoption availability, wants, needs, likes and dislikes. You will be the inside man (or woman) for the adoption process. You will be shown and guided in anything that you need help or guidance in and will be supported fully.

Benefits to you:

- saving an animal's life at no cost to you

- access to community support groups

- education on caring for different needs; good for potential future pets

- unconditional love from an animal in need

Benefits to the animal:

- saving and changing their life in a way that could not have been achieved otherwise

- having a human love them, care for them and provide for them

- a second, third or even more chance at life

- being understood and respected

- being vetted, vaccinated, fixed, microchipped, and groomed

Benefits to the Community:

- less animals in shelters

- less animals on the streets

- less sick animals without help

- more support within the animal community
